SCHOLARSHIPS - HOW TO QUALIFY

Please review the criteria and eligibility requirements below before submitting your scholarship application.  Select the scholarship award that applies to your current situation and complete all required information requested and submit.  Only one (1) applicant per student per semester will be accepted; however, there is no limit on the number of applications per family.

The $1,000.00 “Undergraduate Scholarship” awards are drawn in the fall and spring.  Five (5) $1,000.00 scholarship awards are selected by a random drawing at the conclusion of the fall and spring golf tournaments.  We ask that a representative of the applicant attend the drawing, but it is not mandatory.  A member may only win this scholarship twice.

The “Career Advancement” and “Head Start” scholarships will be awarded throughout the year the HEL Board is in session.  Qualified applicants will have their name entered into a drawing and winners will be selected at random during one of our monthly HEL Board Meetings which occur from September to May each year. A member may only win either of these scholarships twice.

The special “Named Scholarship” awards are open to undergraduate students starting their Junior or Senior year at Texas A&M or The University of Houston majoring in the Industrial Distribution program or equivalent.  These students do not have to be members or children of a member.  The HEL Scholarship Committee conducts personal interviews with these applicants each year in February.  Award recipients are decided by majority vote of the scholarship committee based on a personal interview process.  A student may only win this scholarship once.
